Lee, my goodness. I can’t believe that you are gone. I’ve had a ringside seat as Lee grew from a mechanic to a savy and successful business owner. The same with his life: a teenager, an adult, a husband, a dad and a grandpa. He had fierce love for his children and grandchildren. His love and generosity for family and friends knew no bounds. Some of my best memories are with him and his family. He was the brother that I never had. I loved him so much. I offer my sincere condolences and love to his family. He will forever be missed.

Lee was always kind and welcoming. He was the kind of man who quietly took care of everyone and never talked about it. I know he is in heaven where there is no pain or sadness and we will see him again but he is missed here by those left behind. My deepest sympathies to you all.

Dear Family, Friends, and all dear to Lee as he was truly a leader, a beacon of light who loved to lead. I was always amazed at how hard he worked to prepare the fun activities, and bring fun into his home. I always observed how he loved his hospitable home. I will never forget how instrumental he has been for the character and well-being of his family with his love and tender care as a man of good character, wonderful parent, and Pa. I have missed the family dearly as away, but want to share this time being close as I can. Lee’s spiritual goodness, love, and a deep desire to provide fun and action, delicious food with his presence as a magnificent Father Figure. I admire Lee and always will. I grieve with the family, his children, his grandchildren, his dearest loved ones, and all who knew him so much more than I do. However, I was always aware that the tribute goes to A Great Man Who Loves Like All the Great Men Who Leave Their Legacy. This has been his gift. His soul and spirit are present whether he is present or not, just like always, in his life here and now in Heaven. I will never forget Lee Ray Heckman as he chose to be a Great Dad for all his forever families. I am sad, yet happy he chose to be such a Great Man to Remember, a Godly man.

From a father figure, to golf mentor, Lee was many things to so many people. He welcomed me into his family with open arms. Never once did I not feel at home going over to the Heckman’s from countless hours on the golf course to countless hours hanging out and barbecuing. There is so much I can say but none of it will amount to the love and happiness Lee radiated everyday. From giving me nicknames like “hayhoo” and so many more, I am forever great-full to have been apart of his life. Your memories, morals, and lessons will live on through us forever. Fly High Sir! Long Live Lee

I am so grateful that your family welcomed my boy into your family. I know the weekends and overnights were one of favorite things he got to do growing up in Vero. Being a single parent, you tend to worry about the places and people your teenager hangs around when you are not around. I had absolutely no reservations about Halen hanging at your home and Lee was a big part of why I was so comfortable about it. The family values and love radiated every time I came to their home. I know Lee is a guardian angel that will be watching over all he love so dearly. I pray your heart and soul is healed as Lee would want all of you to make the best of your lives as he did with his! God Bless You All!

I just found out about Lee’s passing and can’t believe he is no longer with us. I met him while working in the Virgin Islands. We would fly him in to train mechanics and help with repairs. Darlene came with him and we spent time together when we were off the clock. I have fond memories of showing them around St. Thomas and taking the car ferry to explore St. John. A few years later they welcomed me in to their home when I was passing through Vero Beach and treated me like family. My condolences to Darlene, Mickey, DJ, Leevi, Lexx and the rest of the family.
