Linda Leigh Hursh, Ph.D., age 76, died May 4, 2019 at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital, Vero Beach, FL. She was born on Long Island, New York, the daughter of Paul and Lenore Hursh. She spent most of her professional life in Columbia, SC. She moved from Columbia to Vero Beach when she retired.
She retired from WJB Dorn Medical Center, Columbia, South Carolina as a clinical psychologist, from 1991 to 2008. She was in private practice from 2010 to 2014 until she moved to Florida. She was a part-time faculty member at Indian River State College, Pruitt Campus St. Lucie West, Department of Humanities until her death. She obtained a bachelors degree from The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio in 1966. She completed a Clinical Fellowship in Psychology, Department of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts in 1973 and obtained a Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, South Carolina in 1979. She also obtained her Masters Degree in Philosophy from the University of South Carolina, Columbia in 2002.
She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Paul and James. Survivors include: Brother, Steven R. Hursh, Ph.D. and Sister-in-law, Joyce Hursh. Nieces and nephews include Steven, Sharon, Carolyn, Jamie, Bill, and Annemarie and seven great nieces and four great nephews and her beloved dog, Homer.
