Sarah Louisa Prado (also as known as G.G., Grandma, Sarah Lou, Mamalou, Mom and, to our geocaching family, as Tookle 2) passed away at 3am Sunday morning, June 2nd, 2019 after a week’s stay at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, FL. She was 95.

Born in Davenport, FL on January 1st, 1924, she was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church for almost 40 years.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Arthur Prado, and her oldest daughter, Maria Stephens Moore.

She is survived by her daughter, Louisa Zokvic, and her son, William Prado, as well as 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Sarah Lou lived in many different locations in Florida growing up, including the Jacksonville and Stuart areas.

She and Arthur Prado were married in 1943 in Coconut Grove, FL. Settling in Miami Springs, FL to raise a family of three, she and Artie retired to Vero Beach in June of 1980.

A woman with an amazing life, she was a third generation Floridian whose ancestry can be traced back to the Pilgrims. She lived through the great depression, was the youngest woman civilian working for the Navy Department at the start of World War II.

She was a painter, a gardener and a sailor. She sang in the choir. She was a church secretary, a Girl Scout Troop leader, a geocacher, wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and friend, beloved by us all.

She was our family’s religious and moral compass. She knew about God’s grace and lived it. By her own words and deeds, she showed us compassion and empathy towards all.

A private family memorial service, officiated by Pastor Jack Diehl, was held at Our Savior Lutheran Church on June 8th, 2019 where she was interred beside her husband.

Memorial donations in her name can be made to the VNA Hospice House, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960, where she was lovingly and expertly cared for the last week of her life.

Thank you, God, for putting this human angel on earth for all of us to learn from. Her beautiful light will be missed by many.
