Shirley M. Johnson, 90, of Springlake Court, Vero Beach, Florida and a former resident of Turners Falls, MA died Saturday 12/9/2023 at the VNA Hospice House of Vero Beach. She was born in Montague, MA on September 4, 1933, the daughter of Antonio and Mary (Ebbs) Baron. She was a graduate of Turners Falls High School. She was a lifelong resident of Turners Falls and a winter resident of Vero Beach for forty-four years.
Shirley was employed by the Farren Memorial Hospital for twenty-seven years as a certified lab technician. She was owner and operator of the Clay Shed, a ceramic studio, for many years. Upon her retirement, Shirley, with her husband Stanleigh, purchased a local tavern in Turners Falls and named it D.J. Baron’s. She made many lifelong friends while owning and operating this establishment.
She loved to travel and enjoyed fifty-three cruises with family and friends.
Shirley was an active member of her community of Vista Royale serving many years on the board of directors.
Survivors include her children, Debra Wilcox and her husband Timothy, Donald DeNofrio and his wife Susan, Diane Faughnan, David Johnson and his wife Robyn, and Sally Gellock and her husband Joseph; ten grandchildren, Kristen and her husband Martin, Danielle and her husband William, Jillian, Tony, David and his wife Melody, Cambrie, Heidi, Melissa and her husband Patrick, Jamie and her husband Thomas, and Jennifer; four great granddaughters, Haleigh, Nicole, Julia and Kameryn; and two great grandsons, Landon and Masyn.
Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Stanleigh and her brother, Donald.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, December 30, 2023, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
