Cory Edward Hobgood, 40 years of age, passed away on August 12th, 2024, in Vero Beach, Florida.
Cory was born in Ft. Pierce, Florida to Susan and Edward Hobgood.
He attended Vero Beach High School, graduating in 2002. Cory also attended Indian River State College and received an Associated degree in Aquaculture. He graduated from Chapman School of Seamanship in 2007. Cory was first mate on many Yachts throughout the Atlantic Ocean. After sailing the seas. He attended heavy equipment school and learned to drive an excavator while mining in California, Texas, and Arkansas.
After many venturing careers Cory returned home to tend to a family illness when he became employed with Piper Aircraft.
Cory was a member of St. Helens Catholic Church, Vero Beach Fl.
He volunteered during beach cleanup restoration projects and enjoyed fossil hunting. He was happiest when fishing with family and friends.
Survivors include his parents Edward and Susan Hobgood; daughter Cayden Hobgood; brothers Brian Aycock and Teddy Hobgood; aunts Karen Pierce, Linda Grundel, Katrina LeMaire, and Beverly Hargroves; many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, friends (especially Mike Nova), and his beloved chihuahua Tinker Bell.
Cory was predeceased by his sister Sarah Bilquist and cousin Christina LeMaire.
A gathering will be held on Friday, August 23rd, 2024, at 12:00 pm at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory with a memorial service to begin promptly at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in memory of Cory.

To Your Family Cory was handsome , Respectful, hard worker, I can go on, I met him at HSThrift, always full of laughter, With his beautiful eyes, It heart breaking to hear of his passing, RIP Corey, God Bless You And Family Annie❤️

I’m sorry to hear the news about Cory. He was well liked. I’ll always remember coming to do the pest control service at your home. And I would block at least 30 minutes more. Because Cory and I would have long talks. Just about everything. I’m saddened by the news and will keep all of you in my prayers.
