William Ball Eubank, Jr, (85) of Vero Beach, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 17, 2024. He is survived by his beloved wife Charlene Beasley Atkins-Eubank, whom he often called “Pretty” or “Boo”; his four children, William B Eubank III (Jamie), Ellie Shropshire (Joe Rhodes), Karen Dorsey (Guy Jones), Leigh Herring, and his stepson, Alex Atkins (Christy); six grandchildren, Lacey, DJ, Wyck, Kennedy, Brady, & Ashley; and several great-grandkids. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Ball Eubank, Sr, Virginia Eubank, sister Nancy Hoke and grandson Ty Dorsey.
Known to many as Bill or Billy, he was born in Richmond, Virginia on January 15, 1939. Bill attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond and graduated in 1961 from Virginia Military Institute with a degree in civil engineering. After college, he served several years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Cleveland, Ohio. He left active duty in 1963 and was an officer in the Army Reserves until 1968, retiring as a Captain.
Bill was a gun enthusiast, active military supporter and outdoors man. In his earlier years, he enjoyed duck and turkey hunting as well as fresh and saltwater fishing. He ran dogs at field trials, participated in dove shoots and was an active member at Second Baptist Church in Richmond.
Moving to Florida in 1994, he and Charlene settled in Vero Beach in 2003. He took great pride in his military service, actively volunteering at the Victory Center. Bill loved being an engineer, and he put his visual acuity to good use working as an engineer with Florida’s Department of Transportation and Indian River County. He regularly attended services at Grace Baptist Church in Vero Beach.
He was known for his trucker caps, flip-up sunglasses, dry wit and striped, yellow polo shirts. He had a never-ending stream of one-liners and sayings. Bill loved collecting things, including Army memorabilia, anything with a duck on it and standard gauge hobby trains. He was called Big Daddy by his grandkids, whom he played with in the pool, taught gun safety, treated to ice cream (vanilla being his favorite) and took to the beach. He was always up for a card game, and rummy was his game of choice.
In his later years, Bill was a lung and liver cancer survivor, which he fought with courage and dignity. Parkinson’s disease and hearing impairment did not defeat him. In the end, his heart could not keep up with his enthusiasm for life. Donations can be made in his memory to the Victory Center Military Store and Grace Baptist Church, both in Vero Beach. Information on a Celebration of Life service to follow.
Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.

Karen and family, I did not know Bill personally but I know I would have liked him because I like turkey hunting too. I am so sorry for your loss and may God be with you during these difficult times.
