Elizabeth Anne (Betsy) Trodglen passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Hospice House in Vero Beach, Florida. She was born April 13, 1954, in Glen Cove, New York, the daughter of Munn Dodd and Constance Baldwin Myers. She was a 1972 graduate of Vero Beach High School. Betsy was married to Paul Trodglen on May 28, 1989.

Betsy is survived by her husband, Paul, her children Christina Trodglen, of Vero Beach, Davis (Eusely) Trodglen, of Warrior, Alabama, and Cody Trodglen, of Vero Beach, and her grandchildren Laila, Finn, Ana, Davis, Jr., Liam, Emilia, Arlo and Forest. Betsy’s step-daughter, Marie Mercado of New Port Richey, Florida (Kristen, Katelyn, Madelyne, Michael, Daniel, Richard Jr.), and step-son Shawn Dugan (Anna Grace) Trodglen of Pine Lake, Georgia, survive as well. Betsy has three sisters who also survive her, Jean Fairbank (Keith), Cyndy Vickers (Larry), and Virginia Myers, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Munn Dodd and Constance Baldwin Myers, and infant twin brothers Grey Baldwin Myers and Thane Baldwin Myers.

Betsy grew up primarily in West Islip and Setauket, (Long Island) New York, and moved to Vero Beach after a year of travel with her family on a sailing ketch in the Caribbean. Sailing was one of her great pleasures. As a child, Betsy enjoyed rough and tumble play in the woods and was often seen wearing her red cowboy hat. The majority of her working years were spent in the insurance business. Passionate about family, she was so proud of each of her children and grandchildren.  She lived life with passion, sought the intellectual and spiritual in many traditions, and had a sincere appreciation for Native American culture. She was a life-long bookworm and loved knitting, jewelry making, and creative writing as well.

A memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice House of Vero Beach.

Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.

The Ed Schlitt Agency’s Insurance office was where I met Betsy. It was an independent agency, so we had to be skilled in auto, home & specialty services. Betsy had the intelligence & people skills also. We lost touch after she moved to Melbourne Beach but I count her as the most fun office associate to work with. Condolences to the entire family.
