Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.
With deep affection and gratitude, we remember Albert Richard Kober, who passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife and daughters on December 14, 2025, in Vero Beach, Florida. Born in Herkimer, New York, on July 29, 1938, Al lived a life marked by kindness, generosity and wonder. After graduating from Hope College, he dedicated many years to the insurance industry, retiring at the young age of 53 as Chief Executive Officer of Peerless Insurance Company – a role that reflected both his leadership and dedication.
A true lover of baseball, Al cheered for the Boston Red Sox with passion and loyalty. His adventurous spirit shone brightest during family travels, especially on cruise ship journeys that became cherished memories. Al’s strategic mind and playful heart made him a formidable card player and a Gold Life Master in Duplicate Bridge.
Above all, Al was devoted to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lynne; his four daughters, Dawn Kober (Lorrie Levy), Kristen Kober (Michelle Hull), Pamela McLellan, and Alison Dean (Adam Dean); and his four grandchildren, Kyle, Elisa, Camden, and Anya. Each of them carries forward his legacy of love, laughter, and curiosity.
A private family memorial will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory in Vero Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society, 1269 Union Ave., Laconia, New Hampshire 03246, honoring Al’s generous spirit.
Forever remembered as a “Big Kid,” Al’s playful nature touched everyone who knew him. His warmth, wisdom, and zest for life will remain in our hearts always.
Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach, FL.

So very sorry for your difficult loss. It’s never easy no matter how expected it may be. He was an interesting and energetic person who was clearly very loved by his family. I’m sure he knew you would all take care of each other when he wasn’t here to do it. I’m glad I had a chance to spend time with all of you this summer. Warmly, Marilyn Hull
