Slaton Waldo Sisk, age 58, passed away October 6, 2017 at his home in Maysville, Georgia.

Waldo was born December 18, 1958 in Cambridgeshire, England. He was the second of four children, with his sister, Charlotte Ann being first best friend and his partner in crime.

The first of many health concerns, that would follow him over his lifetime, started at age 12 when he was diagnosed as a Juvenile Diabetic. He was a diabetic until 1992, when he received a transplant. Waldo’s daughters are forever thankful to the family of the 17 year old man who so selflessly donated their son’s organs upon his passing. Because of this selfless donation, Waldo’s life was extended by 25 years.

Crystal and Waldo were married June 25, 1982. They were married 19 years and together have two beautiful girls, Saranne and Summer. It was because of Crystal’s persistence that Waldo received his kidney and pancreas transplant from Emory University Hospital, in February 1992. He was the 13th person to receive a double transplant at Emory.

Shortly after recovering from his transplant and returning to work at Rockwell Automation, he was hit head on by another driver who had fallen asleep at the wheel. The fatal accident left him with a crushed left knee and ankle. After a successful recovery, he returned to work.

In January 2001, Waldo suffered a massive heart attack. Waldo’s Daughters would like to thank the swift work of the Bold Springs Volunteer Fire Department who, without hesitation, used the AED they were trained on just a few days prior to save his life, yet again. This left him with short term memory loss, due to the loss of oxygen.

Prior to his heart attack, Waldo enjoyed building model cars, riding his sky blue Harley Davidson, and restoring both a ’69 Corvette & Camaro. He had a great group of friends who shared many memories and traveled all over the United States on their Harleys.

After his heart attack, he enjoyed trips to Wal-Mart, anything orange, and spending time with his daughters. He was very proud of his mustache which later earned him the name, “Walrus” by his niece, Cheyanne.

In November 2013, Walrus’s health started to decline. He was diagnosed with Kidney Failure, beginning dialysis 3 days a week, and was no longer able to live on his own. During that time, he moved in with Saranne & Summer’s Mom, Crystal, and her Husband, Don. During that time, Don took Walrus to doctor’s appointments, delivered his forgotten items after Sunday dinner, and took care of him like his own son.

Waldo’s family has often joked that he was the “cat with 9 lives”. They have enjoyed every extended second they were able to share with him. Walrus overcame every obstacle that was in his path. He always had the best spirit and never lost his sense of humor. Throughout every surgery, broken bone, and treatment, he never once complained.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Saranne (Ryan) Lowther and Summer Sisk; father, Bob Sisk; sister, Charlotte Ann (Tony) Smith; brother, Bobby (Tamara) Sisk; niece, Cheyanne Smith and nephew, Hunter Smith.

He was predeceased by mother, Charlotte Ann (Waldo) Sisk and brother, Mike Sisk.

Waldo’s daughters, Saranne & Summer, would like to give a special thanks to Mardee, Rolande, and the staff at Commerce Kidney Center. You will forever be a part of our family. We are so grateful for not only the care he was given, but the friendships that he made.

A private service, with his Daughters, was held in Vero Beach, Florida prior to his cremation.

A Memorial Service, for friends and family, will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 16, 2017 at New Salem United Methodist Church, 2170 Highway 59, Commerce, GA 30530.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Georgia Transplant Foundation, 2201 Macy Drive, Roswell, Georgia 30076.

In the words of Waldo, “The Party’s Over”!
