Cheryl Kay Bockstahler, age 66, died on May 24, 2026, at her home in Vero Beach, Florida, with her husband and daughter by her side after a battle with acute myeloid leukemia.
She was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, and moved to Florida in 1983.
She was a graduate of Mankato State University with an Associate of Science Degree in 1979.
She retired from the Federal Aviation Administration after 23 years of service in Melbourne, Key West, and Vero Beach. She received multiple Facility of the Year awards throughout her tenure as chief of Vero Beach Tower.
She was an active member of the Vero Beach Veterans Club. She also belonged to the La Crosse Oktoberfesters (known as the Blueshirts) in Wisconsin for 42 years, where she was affectionately known as CB.
She loved to travel and lived an adventurous life, including water skiing, scuba diving, and skydiving.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, James Bockstahler, her daughter, Jenifer Bockstahler, and her beloved cat, Little Buddy. She is also survived by her family in Minnesota, including her brother, Jay, and sisters Lori and Diane.
She was predeceased by her father, Burton “Larry” Sorensen, and her mother, Joan Sorensen.
