Beverly Anne Foley

Beverly Anne Foley (née Kuhn) passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, at the age of 102. Known to most as Anne and affectionately called “BeBe” by her family, she was born on May 25, 1924, in New York City to Edward M. and Kathryn Swift Kuhn.

Anne grew up in the New York City area with her older sister and two younger brothers. A devout Roman Catholic, she drew lifelong strength and guidance from her deep faith and unwavering devotion to family. She regularly attended Mass at Holy Cross Church in Vero Beach, Florida.

An exceptional athlete from a young age, Anne excelled at basketball, competing in numerous New York-area leagues and on her high school team. Her talent carried her to the professional level, where she played for the New York Knickerettes, the women’s counterpart to the New York Knicks during World War II. She played in Madison Square Garden and other notable venues.

It was on the basketball court that she met the love of her life, and husband of 42 years, John Foley. After the war, John attended Fordham University on the G.I. Bill and supplemented his studies by refereeing games. After officiating one of Anne’s games, he asked her out, sparking a beautiful romance and partnership that endured until his passing in 1989.

As a proud “FBI wife,” Anne accompanied John to postings in Cleveland and Chicago before returning to New York, where she and John raised their four children. Anne later became an avid tennis player and golfer, and was a longtime member of Westchester Country Club in Rye, N.Y. After raising her family, she enjoyed a rewarding 40-year career in real estate with Claire D. Leone Associates, where her intelligence, warmth, and genuine care helped countless families find their perfect homes.

Anne and John shared a lively circle of lifelong friends who lovingly called themselves “The Mixed Nuts.” Together, the group raised their children, vacationed, and hosted legendary parties whose stories continue to bring joy and laughter across generations. Anne was admired for her wisdom, kindness, inner and outer beauty, and quiet strength. She embodied grace and class, and her love for her husband and family served as an enduring inspiration to everyone she met.

In 2014, Anne resettled in Indian River Shores, Florida, where she formed cherished friendships, read voraciously, attended film studies at the Vero Beach Museum of Art, became a devoted canasta player, and even considered taking up mahjong this year.

Anne is survived by her daughter Gail Long and her son Brian Foley (Patricia). She was preceded in death by her beloved husband John, her sons John Jr. (Maria) and Paul (Holly), and her son-in-law Laurence Long. She leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She is also survived by her brothers Edward “Buddy” Kuhn and John “Jack” Kuhn and she was predeceased by her sister Edna.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach, Florida. Interment will be at a later date at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY where she will rest in eternal peace alongside her beloved husband.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Anne’s memory to Operation Smile.
