Born on April 22, 1968, in West Palm Beach, Florida, Dawn successfully owned and operated her own pool cleaning business in Vero Beach, Florida, where she was well-known for her work ethic and dedication to her clients.

Her deep, lifelong passion for horses ultimately inspired her move to Lancaster, Kentucky, where she could live out her dream in the heart of horse country.

She was a devoted mother and a fiercely proud grandmother. Her favorite role in life was being a Mamaw and her legacy of love lives on through her five grandsons, Brantley, Gunnar, Dawson, Owen, and Hudson, who brought immense light and joy to her life.

Dawn is survived by her loving daughter, Danielle Lyn Smallwood, and her sisters, Tammy Cortez and Robin Cortez. She also leaves behind multiple nieces and nephews who will forever cherish their memories of her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger Curtis Neumann and Janice Marie Powers Conway, as well as her beloved brother, Scott Neumann.

Dawn will be remembered for her stubborn independent spirit, her kind heart, and the deep love she shared with her family, friends, and the horses she cared for so deeply. Her memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

There are no words to express a loss of someone who fought so hard to live. Your strong will, stubbornness and determination will live on in all those you loved dearly. You will always be missed beyond measure and loved more then you could of ever known. Rest easy Missy until we all are together again.

How do you say goodbye to someone you’ve known since you were 10 years old?
Missy was my oldest and longest friend. Almost 50 years of memories, laughter, and a friendship that stood the test of time and distance.
Life took us in different directions, and there were times when a year could go by without seeing or even talking to each other. But when we did, it was like no time had passed at all. That’s the beautiful thing about a friendship like ours. We didn’t have to be in each other’s everyday lives to know our friendship was always there.
Some people come into your life when you’re young and become part of who you are. They know you through so many chapters of your life, from the child you once were to the person you become. They know your stories, your struggles, your happiness, and everything in between. And no matter how much time passes or how far apart life takes you, they will always be a part of your story and a part of who you are.
Missy was always one of the strongest and most stubborn people I’ve ever known. And anyone who knew her knows exactly what I mean! She had a fighting spirit that was all her own. She faced so much, but she never gave up easily. Even through her illness, that strength and determination were still there. If anyone was going to put up a fight, it was Missy. And fight she did. ❤️
I wish we had more time. More conversations, more laughter, and more memories to make.
It’s hard to believe she’s gone. She has been a part of my life for so long, and I will forever be grateful for the friendship we shared.
Rest easy, my sweet dear friend. You’ve fought long enough. Until we meet again. ❤️
