Joan MacWilliam Schardt of Vero Beach, FL passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the Hospice House in Vero Beach.
A native of Vero Beach, Joan was born into the local pioneer family of Alexander D. and Jeanette MacWilliam on November 8, 1928.
She is predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, George William Schardt, Jr. (Bill), brothers, Edgar, Alex, and Billy MacWilliam and sister, Helen Glenn.
Joan is survived by her four loving children, Billy Schardt (Barbara), daughters, Jenae Collins (Clay), Suzy Bloch (Jimmy Dupuis), Megan Hedin (Norman). She will be greatly missed by her seven wonderful grandchildren, Clayton Collins (Lesley), Bobby Schardt (Rachel), Carrie Collins Boudrias (Chet), Michael and Matthew Bloch, Hannah and Sarah Hedin, and five great-grandchildren. Joan is also survived by brothers, Peter and Robert MacWilliam of Vero Beach, sister, Barbara Fultz of Savannah, and many caring nieces and nephews.
Joan is remembered for her genuine love of family, children, and gardening.
Friends and family are invited to a Catholic mass Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 2 p.m. at St. Helen Catholic Church, interment following at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach.
