Hugh Martin, 93, of Ft. Pierce, Florida, passed away September 17, 2016.
He was born December 27, 1922 in Athens, Pennsylvania to Arleigh W. Wiggins Martin and Cecil R. Martin.
Upon graduating from Vestal High School, Vestal, NY, Hugh was employed making artificial limbs at IBM, Endicott, New York, where his father had also worked.
During WWII he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1942-1945, as an engineer.
Once separated from the service, Hugh began his career again as an engineer at IBM. The company then moved the family to Lawrenceville, New Jersey, where Hugh then retired.
He and his wife, Vail, moved to Spanish Lakes Country Club, Ft. Pierce, where he resided for 33 years.
Survivors include his two children, David B. Martin of Tampa, FL and Diane M. Argust of Ft. Pierce; four grandchildren, Todd Martin & Kimberly martin both of Tampa, and Alexandria Argust & Jonathan Argust both of Hamilton, New Jersey; and one great-grandchild, Teagan Riley.
Mr. Martin was predeceased by his wife, Vail J. Martin in 2008.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Lakewood Park United Methodist Church, 5404 Turnpike Feeder Rd., Ft. Pierce, FL 34951, with Rev. Thomas Fuller, officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Treasure Coast Hospice (on the memo line, please write: St. Lucie Hospice House), 1201 SE Indian St., Stuart, FL 34997.
