David Bailey Whipp, age 73, of Vero Beach, passed away on Monday, September 12th, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born October 5, 1942 in Lakewood, Ohio to Bettie and John Whipp.
Dave served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.
In 1973, he moved his family from Indianapolis, Indiana to Vero Beach, Florida, where he and his wife Sharon founded Dave’s Sporting Goods.
Dave was a member of the “Wednesday Breakfast Club.”
He is survived by his children, Deborah Whipp (Mike Sposato) of Tallahassee, FL, Shaun (Becky) Whipp of Vero Beach, Brian (Nancy) Whipp of Herndon, VA and Jennifer (Tim) Wyvratt, of Longwood, FL; brother, Tim (Francy) MacBain of Wilburn, GA; twelve grandchildren who lovingly referred to Dave as “Pops”, Whitney, David & Mickey; Lauren, Alex, Hannah, & David; Jack & Aidan; and Sophie, Drew & Matt; great-grandchildren, Sebastian & Mayleiah; nephews, Andrew (Kim) MacBain and Jason Cooper; great-nephew, Landon MacBain and great-niece, Lexi MacBain.
Dave was predeceased by his brother Mac, his parents, his stepfather James MacBain, and his high school sweetheart and wife of 48 years, Sharon.
A gathering will be held 2 pm, Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory.
