Oscar Henry Yensan, age 98, passed away on December 11, 2016.
He was born April 2, 1918 in Grand Island, New York to the late Max and Fanny Yensan. He and his wife, Ruth, have been residents of Vero Beach for 14 years, coming from Camillus, New York.
Oscar was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Vero Beach.
Mr. Yensan served in the United States Army during WWII where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Metal & Purple Heart. He completed 35 missions over in Japan in B-29’s.
Oscar was a member of the Masonic Lodge in both Skaneateles and North Syracuse, New York and a member of the American Legion in Vero Beach, Florida. He was a charter member, and past President, of the Air Force Association for the Syracuse Chapter; served as past Coast Guard Auxiliary commander of Syracuse Flotilla; DFC Society and High 12.
He is survived by wife, Ruth E. Yensan; son, Douglas James Yensan; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Yensan; 3 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A service with military honors was held 12:30 p.m., Friday, December 16, 2016 at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, Florida.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church, Vero Beach.
