Ruth Reiss Barrett, 84, of Vero Beach Fla and Little Silver NJ died on Friday, February 27 surrounded by her loving husband and children in Vero Beach. She was born and raised in NYC and Deal NJ, attended Sacred Heart School, Manhattan and Marymount College, Tarrytown NY. After college Ruth settled in Rumson NJ to raise her four children. She was a communicant of The Church Of The Nativity in Fair Haven NJ.

Ruth’s greatest passions were a challenging game of competitive bridge and her many friends. She was also an avid golfer being a member Rumson Country Club and Bent Pine Country Club Vero Beach. In addition, Ruth enjoyed being a long time member of Seabright Beach Club where she was often spotted in deep concentration at the bridge tables contemplating her next bid.

Surviving are husband of 45 years, Marshall Barrett; a son Frank Clifford of Red Bank NJ; a daughter and son in law Carey and Peter Brittain of Allentown NJ; a son and daughter in law Gregory and Theodora Clifford of Fair Haven NJ; a daughter and son in law Gretchen and Robert Hudson of Mountain Lakes NJ; a brother Theodore Reiss of Rumson NJ; a sister Lucy Mullen of NYC; her grandchildren Peter, Kyle, Gretchen, Eric, Samantha, Ashley and Gregory and four great grandchildren, Pearce, McCullough, Quinn and Weston.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents Raymond H Reiss and Ruth Kranz Reiss, her brother Raymond Reiss and sister Rita Reiss Gorman.

A wake will be held March 18 at Thompson’s Memorial Home, Red Bank NJ from 3pm to 6pm.

The funeral will be held March 19 at Church Of The Nativity, Fair Haven NJ at 11:00am.

A reception will be held at Rumson Country Club, Rumson NJ at 11:00am.
