Dorothy A. Whitney, age 100, passed away April 23, 2015 at Willowbrooke Court at Indian River Estates.
Dorothy was born in Lowell, MA to Charles & Mable Littlehale. She attended Salem State Teacher’s College and graduated with a Bachelors’ in Education. She moved to Vero Beach in 1985, coming from Yarmouthport, MA.
Mrs. Whitney was a member of the Community Church of Vero Beach.
She volunteered at Federated Church Bloomfield Connecticut, Greenwood Community Church, Warwick, RI, Girl Scouts of America, Bloomfield, CT, Kent County Hospital, Warwick, RI; Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis, MA ; Cancer Consignment Shop, Yarmouthport, MA; Indian River Hospital, Vero Beach, FL; Community Church, Vero Beach, FL; and Indian River Estates, Vero Beach, FL.
Survivors include her daughters, Cynthia (Dr. George) Noble, Marilyn (Ronald) Gemme; sons,
Richard (Mary) Whitney, Stephen Whitney (Nancy) Whitney; grandchildren, Sarah Hoffe, Susan Adams, Geoffrey Noble, Elizabeth Bush, Debbie Brooks, Jay Whitney, David Whitney and Ben Whitney; also survived by 15 Great Grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband of fifty years, Charles A. Whitney.
There was a memorial service held at Indian River Estates.
