William Eugene Martin, 91, of Roseland, Florida joined the heavenly choir on July 27th 2014.

He departed the earthly realm from VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach.

Bill was born in Salem, Ohio.

He graduated from Salem High School and was a Marine in WWII.

After completing his military service and returning to the U.S., he married Jean Hoobler in Dellroy, Ohio.

The accomplishments of Bill Martin are many and varied. They range from how he provided for his family to making a bed you could bounce a quarter off of to, at the ripe old age of 75, teaching himself to use the computer and surf the world wide web. We mustnt forget auto mechanic, too.

After moving to Roseland, Florida in 1957, he was employed as a civil servant at Patrick Air Force Base.

Bill received the Foreman of the Year award in 1970 and was plumbing foreman there for many years. His interest in Civil Engineering led him to complete courses in that field of expertise offered by the Air Force.

He was able to play the roles of gardener, carpenter and electrician (as well as plumber!) at his home. It was no surprise to Bills family when he would single-handedly add a bedroom or bathroom to their Roseland abode.

He enjoyed landscaping, as well, which can be witnessed outside his home; and planted various species of palms. His family enjoyed the gardens of Mexican heather and marigolds which Bill would plant and care for seasonally. He was never bored.

He was also a skilled swimmer and body-surfer and would often be seen at the beach with his wife and two daughters in their youth.

Bill Martin was a member of the Masons and the American Legion.

Earthbound survivors include: wife, Jean Martin; sons, John and Tom; daughters, Nancy Frederick, Patti Dean and Tammy Supinger; 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

A family memorial service will be held at Glendale Baptist Church on 27th Avenue and 8th Street in Vero Beach on August 16th at 2:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice House, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, Florida, 32960.
