Stuart Patrick Farmer, age 79 passed peacefully and unexpectedly on December 12, 2014 of natural causes in his Vero Beach, FL home. He was often heard to say “Family is the most important thing in life” and as a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Stuart Farmer left a legacy of unconditional love towards his family.
Born June 20, 1935 in Hackensack NJ, Stuart was the youngest of the two sons of Dr. Vincent and Augustina Lynch Farmer. Dr Farmer, a Thorasic surgeon and Chief of Staff at a Manhatten hospital in NYC, raised the family in the greater NY area. After graduation from prep school, Stuart went on to receive a Bachelor�s degree from Loyola University (1959), Chicago, IL.
Stuart enjoyed a successful business career, holding several positions of increased scope and breadth before retiring from Wilammette Industries in 1999 as the General Manager of their Bowling Green, KY operations.
An avid golfer and a formidable gin player, Stuart enjoyed his retirement sharing his time between sporting events, friends, family and travel, enjoying immensely trips ranging from South African treks, sailing the Panama Canal and Alaskan fishing expeditions.
Stuart was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church and the Vero Beach Country Club.
Stuart is survived by his loving wife Barbara, 8 children, 13 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
There will be no viewing or visitation; in accordance with his wishes, his body has been cremated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Holy Cross Catholic Church, 500 Iris Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32963, or a charity of your choice.
