Alexander M. Bodan, age 82, passed away January 29, 2020 at his home, surrounded by family.
He was born at St Joseph’s Hospital, Far Rockaway, NY to the late Alexander (Ally) and Anna Bodan. He moved from Port Jefferson Station, New York to Sebastian, Florida upon his retirement.
He retired from the Long Island Lighting Company, Shoreham Nuclear Power Plant, Shoreham, New York. He was a Watch Engineer when he retired, after working at the same company for 38 years.
He was a member of the Roseland United Methodist Church, for very many years.
He volunteered at Roseland United Methodist Church, Habitat For Humanity, the National Guard, as a building captain in the condominium where he and his wife Joan resided, as well as helping many friends and neighbors, sharing his spiritual gift of serving, and had the innate ability to accomplish any task laid before him.
He was a graduate of Woodmere High School, Woodmere, NY.
Additionally, while working with the Long Island Lighting Company, by which he was employed, he studied Nuclear Fission, and all facets of running a nuclear power station.
His survivors include, his wife of 64 years, Joan; children, Debra Bodan, Alex Bodan, IV, and his wife Debi Bodan-Turpin, Theodore Bodan; sister, Nancy Bodan-Gonser and her husband Gary Gonser; brother and sister-in-law, Theodore and Mae Buss; grandchildren, Nicholas Bodan-Conides, Elli Bodan-Conides, Skyler Bodan, and Sarah Bodan.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Roseland United Methodist Church, 12962 Roseland Road, Roseland Florida, 32957.
