Douglas Stuart Zapf, age 76, of Vero Beach, passed away December 17, 2019 at Treasure Coast Hospice.
He was born in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Norman F. and Mildred Anderson Zapf.
Mr. Zapf was a graduate of University of Tennessee, having earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business. He was also a graduate in Law Enforcement from Indian River State College.
Mr. Zapf was the owner/operator of Zapf Groves, Inc., Vero Beach.
He was an accomplished artist who loved oil painting.
Mr. Zapf was a member of Community Church of Vero Beach.
He was a Reserve Officer for Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.
Survivors include daughter, Roxane Gibbons; son, John Zapf; granddaughter, Dana Gibbons; grandson, Tristan Gibbons; brother, Frederick Zapf; sisters, Shirley Zapf Brooks and Laura Zapf Gilbert.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Shirley Hammond Zapf.
A Graveside Service will be held 10 a.m., Friday, January 17th, 2020 at Crestlawn Cemetery, Vero Beach.

So sorry to hear of Doug’s passing. He was a good friend of our family, could always count on a morning visit and his adventures. Best to his family, I am sure it is a big loss to many.
