Joseph John Polce, age 84, of Vero Beach, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Indian River Estates, Vero Beach.
He was born in Rome, New York and had moved from Utica, NY, to Vero Beach.
Mr. Polce was a veteran of the United States Army.
He was a graduate of John Carroll University, Cleveland, Ohio and Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York, having earned his Master’s degree.
Mr. Polce retired from Clinton Central Schools after 17 years in teaching. Mr. Polce was the owner of the Rosewood Inn and co-owner of Sea Turtle Inn, both of Vero Beach, prior to his 2008 retirement.
He was a member of the Vero Beach Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Polce is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ermina Polce.
He was predeceased by his brother, A. Paul Polce of Rome, New York.

Uncle Joe had such a wit about him. He would quietly listen to a conversation that was going on and then drop a zinger that would make us all laugh. My favorite memory was when I stayed with he and Ermina at the lake in New York. I can remember how kind his mom and dad were. I will miss his smile and the twinkle in his eyes.

For the past 56 years our friendship spanned many endeavors. We lived next to one-another until Joe and Sis moved south. I missed our hunting adventures.Even then with the width of the state of Florida separating (Joe in Vero and me in Lake Suzy) we met from time to time to share a meal and catch-up on events. I will miss his humor and his advice. Joe was a man for all seasons. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do. RIP my friend you will be missed. Perhaps one day we will meet again. Amen.
