Richard Anthony “Andy” Cogburn – “Rooster”

Born on May 28th, 1962 in Vero Beach, FL, Andy passed away February 22, 2020 in Vero Beach, FL surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Andy grew up in Vero Beach where he worked in the booming citrus industry for many years. He worked his way up from a truck driver to a field coordinator ending his citrus career at Gracewood Fruit Company. In later years, he pursued his passion for carpentry as an entrepreneur and was always there to lend a hand to his friends.

As a “professional grillsman,” Andy donated his time at many events to share his talent in the smoked culinary arts. “Rooster,” as he was known by many, was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoor camping experience.

Andy wished honky tonks had no closing time. He could run a trout line and wished Sunday’s on a river bank would never end. Andy was hard headed but it was all a front to protect the soft heart everyone knew he had.

Andy was preceded in death by his father Richard Lee Cogburn and survived by his mother Barbara Annette Cogburn; daughter Rebecca Tucker, (Mike Tucker), grandsons Clayton, Blake and Abel, and granddaughter Lia; daughter Kelli Boxler, (Ben Boxler), and grandsons Bennie and Owen; son Scott Cogburn (Bill Schmelyun); and girlfriend Debbie Stone with whom he enjoyed many days on the river with.

This was a sudden and tragic loss for us all. Please join in Andy’s Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 25th, at the Sebastian Inlet State Park Pavilion #4 from 11am to 2pm.
