Richard “Rick” Carlton, age 83, of Vero Beach, FL passed away on September 17, 2018.
Rick was born in Ft. Pierce, FL to parents, Sidney W. Carlton and Eula Bryan Carlton.
He had attended Virginia Military Institute and Florida Southern College.
Rick was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served in Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 232 (VMFA-232). Rick’s military career led him to Pensacola, Hawaii, Japan, Thailand, and finally to Kingsville,Texas. When Rick separated from the Marine Corp he was a Captain. Throughout the years he never lost his interest in military planes & pilots.
In 1964, he joined United Airlines, based at O’Hare International Airport, Chicago, IL.
Rick and his wife, Jill, moved to Vero Beach in 1998, coming from Chicago.
He is a member of the “Old Tailhookers” Club in Vero Beach. Rick was a former volunteer at Indian River Shores Department of Public Safety. He & his wife, are lifelong members of the American Trapshooting Association, traveling around the country shooting for 20 years.
Rick is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jill Carlton; son, Brad Carlton; daughter-in-law, Anne Carlton; sister, Joanne Humphries; and numerous nieces. His great nieces, Madison & Emma, were the light of his life.
Rick was predeceased by his parents; his son, Jeff Carlton; and brother, Walter Carlton.
