Russell Deforest Floyd, 82, died August 9, 2021 in Vero Beach, Florida.
He was born in Trion, Georgia and moved in 1967 to Vero Beach with his wife, Carolyn, and two children.
While living in Georgia Russell was a K9 Officer on the Lafayette Police Department. In Florida he worked as a pile driver, construction foreman, and welder for many years. He was a skilled carpenter and wood-working artist. He was a devout Christian and attended church regularly, with his wife Carolyn.
Russell was “THE” Avid Fisherman. “Fish within a 50 mile radius breathed a sign of relief when he passed.” (HFH)
Survivors include his adored wife of 62 years, Carolyn W. Floyd; son, David L. (Vicky) Floyd; daughter, Cindy F. Hartsfield; grandchildren, Sara, Jon, Emily, Dustin, Austin (Jennifer), Andrew and Alexander; three great-grandchildren; and many other “adopted” children along the way.
We love you, “Daddy-O”

Every one needs to be able to name their Best Friend when asked. Without having to think over a second I can honestly say for the majority of our lifetime Russell was my Best Friend on this earth. I share the hurt with his Son and Daughter David and Cindy. Russell and the love of his life were not apart for long as Carolyn joined him in Glory only a few days after his Homegoing.

David and Cindy, I am so very sorry for your losses!!! I’m glad to have met them both and will always remember Russell saying “Don’t lose my rod and reel!” when we had hooked onto a large nurse shark!

I just saw this obituary. My husband Herb loved fishing with Russ and they had some fun adventures. Russ and Carolyn were our sweet church friends. It was a joy knowing them.
