GySgt. Walter Adam Zawistowski “Ski”, USMC Retired, Age 77, passed away October 1, 2018 at Indian River Medical Center.
GySgt. Ski was born May 13, 1941 in Perth Amboy, NJ.
GySgt Ski Is survived by his four children, Walter Adam Zawistowski Jr, and wife Lynn of Key Biscayne, FL, Matthew John Zawistowski and wife Victoria of Orlando, FL, Melissa Dianne Zawistowski of Rock Hill, SC, and Aaron David Zawistowski and wife Michelle of Vero Beach, FL. In addition, four grandchildren, Britney Zawistowski of Lake Placid, FL, Caitlynn Cramer of Fort Drum, NY, Irina Zawistowski of Orlando, FL, and Jaxson Aaron Zawistowski of Vero Beach, FL. Also, one great grandson, Landon Zawistowski of Lake Placid, FL.
Sgt. Ski proudly served three tours of duty during the Vietnam conflict with the Recon Battalion of the 3rd Marine Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star with “V” for Valor, among many other commendations. He was medically retired from the Marine Corps in October 1968 after a Vietnam war-related traumatic injury.
Walter lived in Florida since 1965. He worked in import and export of seafood until his retirement in 2001. He enjoyed boating fishing, and spending time with his grandson, Jaxon.
Services will be held at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home and Crematory, 1655 27th St, Vero Beach, FL 32960. A gathering of friends and family will begin at 11:00AM Sunday, October 7, 2018 with the memorial service and honors at 12:00PM.
