James Lee Anderson, age 76, of Vero Beach, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021.
He was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, settling in Vero Beach in 1985.
Jim was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp., serving in the Vietnam Conflict from 1968 – 1969, receiving a Bronze Star with Valor. He had also served in the Florida National Guard and retired as a Lt. Colonel in 2005.
Jim retired from Willis Insurance Co. as an insurance agent in Vero Beach, in 2006.
He was a member of First Church of God, Vero Beach.
Jim was an avid fisherman and golfer, as well as a readily available chauffer to his grandchildren, enjoying surfing, breakdancing, and volleyball.
He was a graduate of Eastern Illinois University in 1961 when he received his commission as a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Marine Corp.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy K. Anderson; daughters, Jaime (Charlie) Coleman and Holly Vannoy; and three grandchildren, Zachary Vannoy, Tommy Coleman, and Katie Coleman.
Jim was predeceased by his parents and sisters.
A Celebration of Life – “Paddle Out” will take place at 11 a.m., on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Sebastian Inlet.
Memorial contributions may be made to Tunnels to Towers, t2t.org in honor of James L. Anderson.

We were sorry to hear that our neighbor Jim is no longer with us. We always looked forward to seeing him walk his little dog and stopping to chat a bit. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends who will surely miss him.

Nancy, Jamie and Holly, We are deeply saddened to hear of Jim’s passing. He was an amazing husband, father and friend. We have many cherished memories of spending time with him. He had the greatest laugh! Our time in Vero was so closely intertwined with your family. I know Stephen has countless fishing stories to tell about Jim. Please know that we are praying for you all and sending all our love.

So sorry to hear Jim passed away. I knew him in high school. He was a very sweet person and I can only imagine the loss you are all feeling. He was so very proud of his grandchildren and they brought him great joy.
