Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.
Pastor Roger Ball, 65, danced his way into heaven suddenly on November 14th, 2021 at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital. He was born in Bluefield, West Virginia on December 24th.
Roger was a proud graduate from Princeton High School. In January of 1975, he connected with his future wife Laura on the request line of WKOY Radio. Despite the fact they attended rival high schools, Roger and Laura fell head over heels for each other. Their first date was on February 21st and united in marriage 6 months later on September 6th. Roger then went onto work for WJLS Radio in Beckly, West Virginia. During his this time, his first daughter Stacy Renee was born.
In 1980, Roger took the opportunity to move to Florida to manage WTTB Radio. Shortly after the move to Vero Beach, his second daughter Angela Nicole was born. In 1984, he opened up his Ad agency called Ad-Venture.
In 1991, in answer to the call, Roger shut the doors of the agency and became Youth Pastor at Immanuel Church, now known as Freedom Church. Seven years later, he became the lead Pastor, a title he faithfully kept for 23 years.
In addition to his love and dedication to God, Roger also had a passion for helping the broken and less fortunate. In 2014, he became involved with Dynamic Life Rehab. No matter what path of life you were on, he was always there to help, support, love and share the word of God. He made sure everyone knew he was no better than them, often wearing a shirt that said “I am Second”. When asked how he was doing, he would always reply, “better than I deserve”. Roger’s passion for ministry was spread far and beyond Vero Beach, Florida. In 2003, he went on his first Brazil mission trip through Pioneers Mission Global. On this trip, he fell in love with the culture and people. From that year until his most recent trip in October 2021, Roger took 17
trips, helped build 17 churches, and developed many relationships with people in the community.
Roger was a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a grandfather and a friend to all. He will be greatly missed.
Predeceased by his parents, John and Christine Ball and his brother, James Ball. His dog, Isaac.
Survived by his loving wife, Laura Ball. His sister Kathy Ferguson (Chris). His two daughters Stacy Macdonald (Scot) and Angela Tappen (Daniel). His grandchildren, Morgan Ball-Monroe, Nicholas Macdonald, Emilee Macdonald, Camden Macdonald and Lucy Tappen.
Celebration of life will be held at Freedom Church on Saturday December 18th, 2021 at 3:30 pm. A live stream will also be available on the FreedomChurchLife.com website and the Freedom Church Facebook page @mychurchfamily. Attendees are encouraged to write the family a letter with your favorite memory of Roger. A designated area will be provided at the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that financial contributions be made to one of Roger’s favorite causes. Pioneers Missions Global, Dynamic Life Ministries or Freedom Church.

Roger, you have left a hole in our hearts and in our lives. We are frozen in grief one minute and laughing hysterically at a memory the next. You touched each of us in a very personal way and we will all miss you forever. I hope you have so many questions for Jesus that he can’t get any sleep – like I did you on the plane to Brazil my first year in 2010. It was a joke between us since that time. I have said since your passing that this is just like you to have to be one ahead – you just had to get to heaven before the rest of us. Save me a seat, I will be there soon enough. Until then my friend, my pastor, my confidante, my partner in jokes I will miss you so much. ❤️

Laura, words just don’t seem to be enough. Please know you and your family are in my daily prayers and thoughts. Loss like this is like nothing else. Lean on your girls, and most of all – lean on your Jesus. He will carry you and guide you, no greater love. Such a beautiful family reunion in heaven.

Many years back at WTTB we met, then I went to work for Roger at ad-venture and our families met! Then our lives each took different turns only to renew old friendships at my time of need when my husband passed! Roger did such a great service people were so comfortable with him and his message – who would have thought we would stay friends til Roger’s passing! So sad – he will be missed by many! I believe God needed your service on the bright side! Will miss you! Laura if you need to chat and share I’m here – losing your life partner is different than all other loss!

Roger was a friend. He was also a spiritual leader that I held in high regard. I respected and loved this man. He stood out in the crowd as someone who really loved life and knew we weren’t here to waste time. I’ll miss dropping in on him. He always had time for everyone. I’ll cherish the private chats and the praying we shared. I am going to miss him terribly.

Although I had not seen Roger in many years I always thought so highly of him. I met Roger when I was in sales many years ago. I sold him tee shirts for his ad agency, Ad-venture. He was always very courteous and respectful. I was so sorry to hear of his passing. I know he lives with Jesus now. May the Lord give his family comfort and peace during such a difficult time.

A true friend who was always there. He counseled me many times and I became a better person because of it. I have message on phone that came 3 days before he went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus. It merely said “love ya brother”. He, Laura and I were born in West Virginia not too far apart. I love him and will miss him. My prayers are with his lovely wife, Laura beautiful daughters Stacy and Angie. “Love ya brother”!

Roger was a friend, a mentor, and mostly a favorite person. Roger always made time for our family and has been instrumental in our lives over the last four years. We will cherish every talk especially the last. We will have that cup of cocoa in his memory this winter and the Christmas decorations will be all that more special. Our hearts will forever hold a spot for time with Roger. It will be there until we meet again. Our hearts are with Laura and his girls. May they receive an abundance of peace and comfort.

Roger, what a space of emptiness your “graduation” is leaving for those of us left behind! You are a one-in-a-million man of God! We are so grateful you were there to see our family through one of the darkest hours we have thus endured. Our prayers continue for peace and comfort for your loved ones!

Our paths crossed 37 years ago when I was just 16 years old. My mom got her first job in Vero Beach with Roger. I recall many stories during the days of WTTB and Ad-Venture. Every time I stopped in, Roger greeted me with a BIG smile and probably a joke or two. PG rated of course. I followed Rogers Virtual Church during Covid always waiting to see where he would choose to hold it and what the message would be for my listening ears. Our family knew at the time my father passed there was no one more befitting to conduct his service than Roger. We will be forever grateful for him to help us understand, take comfort in the afterlife and know there truly is a better life waiting for us. There is no one more deserving of earning his wings. Prayers for His lovely family, take comfort in knowing Roger left a legend and will be with you in spirit always.

I did not know Pastor Rogers intimately but from his FB posts, especially during all of last year 2020, I could see his big heart for humanity and the Kingdom of God. His sincerity of heart and deep love for all people are still to be admired! Rest in the arm of your Lord. ** My sincere condolences to the family.

Pastor Roger was like a father in faith to me, a mentor. I used to listen to him with such joy. I admire him so much for the care, love and patience he had for people. He really had a Brazilian heart, he understood us and captivated us with his smile and compassionate look. Ah, how I will miss him! But from now on, I will remember even more fondly each of his sermons and experiences that made him the authentic Pastor Roger Ball, a chosen one of the Lord who touched thousands of lives with Jesus’s grace and love. One of the last words I remember coming out of his mouth on October 14th, 2021 in a breakfast table at the foot of the Rio Preto in the city of Formosa do Rio Preto, Bahia – Brazil was, “whatever it costs is the price to be paid so that those I love deeply can also know the greatness of Jesus’ love.” Laura, Stacy, Angela, Kathy, Chris, Scott, Daniel and granchildren, I can’t imagine the pain you are still feeling and will still feel, but I can tell you that Jesus is with you every single day and can strengthen you and He can renew your hope that one day you will meet Roger in glory. And He who says this does not lie, but is faithful to fulfill it! I and my Church in Brazil have been praying for you every day. We wish we could be with you to hug and cry together, but please receive our words from the bottom of our hearts. We love you!

Dear Laura and Family, Words cannot express how deeply saddened we were to hear of Pastor Roger’s passing. He will be missed and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a wonderful shepherd and we will miss his sermons. He always took the time to listen and to pray with us over the years. We had so looked forward to returning back home to Vero Beach, seeing his smile and hearing him say “welcome home.” We have missed you all and miss attending services with our church family: it won’t be the same without him. Our hearts are breaking for you and your family for your loss. Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. We love you guys. Love, Janice, Fred, and Roxanne Jones
