James Edward Clem, age 78, passed away June 19, 2022 at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital.

 

He was born May 14, 1944 in Quincy, Florida to the late Pearce and Eva Clem. James grew up in Tampa, Florida. He lived in Tallahassee and Jacksonville, before settling in Orange Park, Florida.

 

James was baptized in 1980 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and continued to serve Jehovah God faithfully.

 

He worked 15 years with the IRS Department of Treasury in Jacksonville, Florida in Customer Service. He also worked as a Math Teacher for over 20 years in Tallahassee, Florida for the Leon County Public School System.

 

Survivors include his spouse, Aisha Akil-Clem; children, Kerry Clem (Spouse – Grace), Kelvin Clem, Kathy Clem, Keith Clem (Spouse – Juanita), Kitwana Akil (Spouse – Charlotte), Kibibi Akil, Bakari Akil II (Spouse – Wilanda), and Karimah Akil; Grandchildren, Gracen Clem, Kerrigan Clem, Kayden Clem, Zakiya Akil, Kenyon Akil, Khalil Akil, Kiona Akil, Karim Akil, and Ayanna Akil; Great-Grandchildren, Sofie Grey Clem and Rolando Akil-Graham; Sisters, Mae Mills and Margaret Wiggins; Brother -in-laws, Ernest Lane (Spouse-Gwendolyn) and  Alfonzo Williams.

 

He was predeceased by his brothers, Pearce “Tadpole” Clem and Almeus Clem; sisters, Marie Adams, Hazel Williams and Yvonne Clem.

 

A Memorial Service for James Edward Clem will be held: Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 2:30 PM, Oakleaf Zoom Meeting ID: 890 7589 4793; Passcode: 432342.

 

Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.

My sincerest condolences for this family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Clem was more than just a friend to me, he was a man of true integrity and wisdom. He will be missed by so many! God rest his soul!

James Clem was my uncle and friend we could talk about anything, When you see him he always had a smile on his face snd love to be around his family far and near. I reason just had another grand (son) and ever time i have him I would call Uncle Jimmy and Ashia to they could see him and again that smile was on his face . I am going missed you Uncle Jimmy

I give my condolences to my mom, Lillie Mae Mills, for the loss of her brother, Uncle Jimmy. We both offer condolences to the entire Clem family .
We pray that The Lord will give our family strength and comfort during this difficult time. Uncle James was loved very much and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was a wonderful loving brother, dad, husband, uncle, friend, etc. We praise God for the period of time that He allowed him to be present with us!
