Edgar Jadwin, 95, of Vero Beach, FL, passed away on June 27, 2022, with his family by his side. Born in 1926 in Junction City, KS, to Colonel Cornelius C. and Eleanor Jadwin, Ed grew up as an army “brat” living in Forts Riley and Leavenworth (KS), Fort Ethan Allen (VT), West Point (NY), Fort Robinson (NE), Washington, D.C., Rome, Berlin, Germany and Switzerland. As a boy, Ed was fortunate to attend the 1936 Olympics in Berlin where his father competed as a member of the US Equestrian Team. Ed attended the Hotchkiss School for two years, leaving to matriculate at Princeton University before being drafted into the U.S. Army for World War II.
As a Second Lieutenant, Infantry, Ed served in Casablanca, French Morocco, North Africa as S-3 and Surplus Property Officer for the North African Service Command. He graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Economics (1950), where he was a member of Charter Club and captained the swimming team in 1949 and 1950.
From 1950 until 1960, Ed rose to be the Administrative Vice President of Cameron Machine Co. and then joined Krementz & Co., a major jewelry manufacturer in Newark, NJ, for 31 years, retiring as Executive Vice-President in 1991. He also served as President of the industry organization, the Jewelers Vigilance Committee.
In 1952, Ed married Lois Breckley of Mountain Lakes, NJ. They raised their family in Madison, NJ and Normandy Beach, NJ until moving to Vero Beach, FL in 2001.
In retirement, Ed became active in SCORE, helping several retailers launch their businesses. He also became very interested in genealogy and worked extensively on his family’s history. Ed’s biggest project was his memoir, “From a Military Life to a Civilian World”, which he self-published in 2016. Ed and Lois were members of St. Augustine Episcopal Church, where he served on the Finance Committee, and Vero Beach Country Club, where he helped organize inter-club tournaments. A highlight of Ed’s later years was his participation in an Honor Flight with other veterans in 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Lois, of almost 70 years, and two daughters, Susan Hargens of Madison, NJ, and Peggy Jadwin (Tim Pepowski) of Lake Forest, IL, as well as three grandchildren, Kyle Hargens (Maria), Brett Pepowski and Dana Pepowski, and two great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at the West Chapel at Indian River Estates in Vero Beach, FL on August 25 at 2:00 pm.

Laurie Hutton-Corr - Old friend

Dear Susan and Peggy – I was so sorry to learn about your Dad. I spoke with him late last year and he filled me in on how the family was doing, including Lois. Ed was such a good friend to Finbarr and provided a great deal of valuable advice and support over the years, which was very much appreciated. I always enjoyed sitting next to him at dinners because he was full of interesting stories about his life , the people he knew and his work. When we visited Ed and Lois one year in Fort Meyers many years ago, they kept us going with so many activities like golf, tennis, eating out and shopping that I wondered how in the world they kept up the pace. And Ed was the person who introduced us to the Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, which was always fun. He talked about his family all the time and was proud of you and the grandchildren. I know he’ll be deeply missed and hope you find comfort in each other. Love, Laurie Corr
Dot & Sheila - Friends

Dear Lois, we guess that you maybe don’t remember us, Dot & Sheila from Wigan near Manchester U.K. but we have very fond memories of meeting you on a cruise in 2009 on Holland America s ship Amsterdam when you joined our ship in Australia. We had been on the ship then for a few weeks having boarded in Seattle at the start of the cruise. It was such a delight to meet you both and we shared many evenings on the ship in the crows nest with you both, along with Cheryl and Larry, Bob and his wife from Wales . Ed sent us a copy of his book he had published which were honored to receive. Then we were in Florida on holiday in Kissimmee a few yrs later and Ed and yourself invited us to come and stay with you both at Vero Beach, which we did. You made us so very welcome and Ed especially enjoyed taking us for dinner to “His Club”, it was just fabulous. We saw on Facebook just before we left for this vacation that dear Ed had passed away. We were so sorry to learn that, and we want you to know that you are very much in our thoughts and prayers at this vey sad time. Anyway, we are here now in Florida again staying in Kissimmee, and have seen the post about Ed’s Memorial tomorrow. So Lois, you probably will not see or recognize us, but we intend to be a5 the service as we want to pay our respects to such a wonderful ,caring and very humorous guy. He called us “The Brits” and took us to Dunkin Donuts to meet his chums, we remember it all so well. It was a privilege to meet you both, and we send you our Love, thoughts and prayers for a special service tomorrow. Sincerely and with kind regards from Dot & Sheila. XX
