Ira Clarence King, Jr., age 81, of Vero Beach, passed away March 20, 2019.

He was born in Williamsburg, Kentucky on August 16, 1937.
Ira was teaching school in Sheperville, KY for 5 years prior to moving to Vero Beach in 1964.

He was a United States Navy veteran.

Ira taught Chemistry and Marine Biology for 30 years at Vero Beach High School.

He was a former member of the Italian American Club, Vero Beach and the National Guard Association of the United States.

Ira was a graduate of Cumberland College, Williamsburg, Kentucky.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn King; children, Teresa King Tackett, Sharon (Mike) Bragg, Monica Bartholomew, and Ira Clarence (Stacy) King III, six grandchildren, Melissa Bragg (Nick) Casalina, Brandon Bragg, Dustin Tackett, Eric Tackett, Blane Bartholomew and Bryce Bartholomew; five great-grandchildren, Jaelyn, Keltie, Cali, Makayla and Cadence; sisters, Peggy Yvonne White and Rhoda Ann Guenthner.

Ira was predeceased by his father, Ira Clarence King, Sr., mother, Sara Peace King and brother, Jim King.

At the request of the family, services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Mr. King may be made to The Miami VA Fisher House, 1201 N.W. 16th St., Miami, FL 33125 or VNA Hospice of IRC, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
