Joseph Samuel Ricotta, 87, died Tuesday, March 5th at VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach, Florida. He was born in Falconer, N.Y. (Sept. 5, 1931) a son of Thomas and Rose (DeForte) Ricotta. He attended Falconer High School and was active in team sports. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War. Joseph was employed for over forty years and retired from Monofrax (formerly Carborundum).

He was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church in Falconer, New York and Our Lady of Grace in Beverly Hills, Florida. He was also a member of the Craftsmens’ Guild of Beverly Hills, Florida.

Surviving are five children: Diane L. Ricotta of Vero Beach, Fla., Thomas P. Ricotta of Roanoke, Va., Christopher J. (Jody) Ricotta of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Laura A. (Glenn) Rudd of Tallahassee, Fla. and Constance (Tui) Ricotta-Chumlongluk of Jupiter, Fla; seven grandchildren: Glenn Rudd, Jr., Jenna Hall, Lauren Rose Sanborn, Elise Ricotta, Taylor Spellman, Marissa Worsley, Elle Chumlongluk and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Phillip S. Ricotta.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at a later date in Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Jamestown, NY.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: the United States Marine Corp POW-MIA, American Cancer Society, VNA Hospice, or a charity of choice.
