Karen Melinda Poag, died unexpectedly on February 6, 2023, at age 42.
Karen was born in New Jersey, where she lived in Haddonfield until relocating at age 3 to Baltimore, MD, where she grew up. Karen attended the Baltimore School for the Arts for 3 years and graduated from Lansdowne High in 1998. She attended Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, graduating in 2002 cum laude with a degree in Economics. During her time at Dickinson, she attended Peking University in Beijing, China, as part of the study-abroad program. In 2002, she relocated to Boynton Beach, FL, making Florida her permanent home.
Karen was employed by several companies, including serving as System Administrator/ Business Analyst at Aviation, Power and Marine, Inc., and later as Sales Analyst for Food Services Division at Dart Container Corporation in South Florida.
An avid reader, Karen sought to share her passion by serving as a volunteer and trainer for “Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic” in Boca Raton. She was also a member of the National Economics Honor Society, from 2001-2023.
Karen had talents in many areas, including music, languages, love of travel, quick wit, and adored her cat companions.
Survivors include her mother Linda Poag, brother Ryan Poag, nephew Collin Poag; aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends from around the world.
Karen was predeceased by her father David Poag, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

I knew Karen and worked with her at Dart Container. I’m shocked and saddened by her passing. She was a beautiful person, inside and out. My deepest and sincerest condolences to her family.
