Norman W. Stewart, age 95, passed peacefully in Vero Beach, FL on June 26th, 2020 at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Ann R. Stewart MD; son, Bruce Stewart living in Florida; daughter, Pryscylla Hubbard of Corning, New York; daughter, Cecily Whiting of Falmouth, Maine; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Born in New Eagle, Pennsylvania, and growing up on Long Island, he served in the Army Air Corp as a B-17 pilot in World War II (European theater). Following the war, he graduated from MIT with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He embarked on a career in finance resulting in successive partnerships in F. S. Smithers & Co., Kuhn Loeb & Co., and Lehman Brothers before retiring in 1985.
During his active years he was involved in community affairs as a director of the Huntington Hospital (NY), Trustee of the Incorporated Village of Lloyd Harbor and President of the Cold Spring Harbor School Board. More recently he had served as CFO of The Indian River Neighborhood Association in Vero Beach, Florida.
An enthusiastic sailor, golfer and US Senior, his club memberships have included Ekwanok Country Club, Riomar Country Club, Piping Rock Club, and Huntington Country Club.
