Alfred Willis Scott, 78, of Vero Beach Florida, died at home on October 30, 2023. Alfred was born in Forsyth, Georgia to his parents Peggy and Dan Scott. Alfred was born and raised as a hard-working cowboy and was a cutting horse champion. Alfred served as a Navy Seawolf during the Vietnam War. Alfred was preceded in death by his daughters Debbie, Jaime, and family. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Donna, daughters, siblings, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and much-loved extended family.
Alfred was the epitome of a gentleman cowboy. He was a friend to anyone and willing to lend a hand even if he had nothing. Alfred spent most of his life working cattle, growing citrus, and making our community a better place. Alfred was known in the church community as a man of God and loved his family and friends. It was Alfred’s wish that there would be a new organ for the church.
A Gathering will be Friday, November 3, 2023, at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Alfred’s service will be Saturday, November 4th, 2023, 10:00 AM at St. John of the Cross, 7590 26th St, Vero Beach, FL 32966.

Very sincere sympathy to Al’s family. He was always a fine man – honorable, honest, hard working and always willing to help others. Al so loved his children and grandchildren and was so happy & proud that they shared his love of the country life. He was the perfect gentleman cowboy at heart always and loved his horses. He will be missed by all, and has left us with beautiful memories.

Bub was a man, a true Southern gentleman, and a gentle man, he was fearless in rough situations as people who were with Him know. I loved to talk horses and life and philosophy with him, we were lucky to know him and respect and honor him as the real thing. Our prayers are with his wife and family.

My Uncle Bub (Al) was a wonderful man! I will remember him as a fearless Navy Seawolf, an epic storyteller, a pilot that would fly me home from college so I could be home for Thanksgivings, a cattleman who loved cutting horses , a woodworker and a wonderful big brother to my dad. We will all miss him dearly and remember him with great love!

Bub (Al) was is my big brother and he was the BEST! I learned so much from him growing up (definitely what not to do!)! Bub was honest and loyal. It was a privilege to work together and partner in business.
Everyone has a Bub story, and I never get tired of hearing them! God bless you, Bub, and I was so grateful to have had you! Love, Danny

My thoughts and prayers are with each member of Al’s family. Al led by example in life ,He is one of the men I respect the most.It didn’t matter where we ran into each other.I could count on a firm handshake and eye contact and always some jokes .Al always reinforced the values I was taught at home.I was very privileged and blessed to have known Al since 1980 or so.Thank you Al for showing myself & others the value of Honesty, Accountability and love of family; and most importantly your servants heart and Christian walk.I never heard you refuse to help others and I always knew I was welcomed and in the midst of dear friends when I was around you, Donna, Leanne, Peggy and Jamie.Thank you for friendship and example of how a man should live.Much Love and prayers to all of Al’s family and friends.

We just heard of Mr. Scott’s passing. What a generous, kind man he was. In 2017, our cattle ranch flooded and the Scott families graciously allowed us to move our cattle onto their Triple S Ranch. There is no doubt that their generosity saved our family cattle business. We will be forever grateful. We wish the entire family our condolences for the loss of such a special man. May God keep and comfort you. Our sincerest condolences, The Alderman family.
