Grace “Alma” Fred, age 81, of Vero Beach, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2017.
She was born to parents, Oliver Chesser and Dorothy Owens Chesser on May 5, 1935 in Ft. Pierce, FL.
Alma retired after 30 years spent in human resources for the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.
She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Fellowship, Sebastian.
Alma is survived by her daughter, Lynn (Rex) Hailey of Vero Beach; her son, John (Jennifer) Fred of Palm Bay, FL; 5 grandchildren, Rex Lee Hailey, Ryan (Courtney) Hailey, Sydney Fred, Elizabeth Grace Fred, and John Eric Fred; great-granddaughter, Camile Lyn Hailey; and 3 brothers, Gene Chesser, Richard Smith, and James Smith.
She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Philip Chesser.
The family will greet friends from 10 – 11 a.m., Saturday, March 4, 2017, with an 11 a.m. Celebration of Life service to follow at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home, Vero Beach.
