ALTURAS – Ann Eleanor Cronin, age 87, lost her long time battle with Alzheimer’s disease and more recent battle with lung cancer on Wednesday morning, March 31, 2021. She left this earth peacefully surrounded by the love of her daughters at her daughter’s residence in Vero Beach, FL.
Born July 26, 1933, in Oneida, NY the daughter of the late Raymond L. and Anna E. (Mastaglio) Scovill. Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Walter Thomas Cronin and her only sibling, brother Raymond Scovill.
The Cronin family relocated in 1972 from Ronkonkoma, NY to Alturas, FL where Ann then resided for 48 years. She lived the last 8 months of her life with her daughter in Vero Beach, FL. Ann worked as a secretary in citrus grove management, retiring from Tri-Britton Inc after 25 years of service and then at the age of 67 working another 12 years for Bohde Grove Services, both located in Alturas.
Ann was a sharp witted funny woman who was not afraid to speak her mind! She had a great appreciation for animals and owned many dogs and cats throughout her life, with many of her family’s pets ending up at her house to raise. She loved country music, reading, Chinese food, a good slab of barbecue ribs and ice cream. Lots and lots of ice cream! However, the true loves of her life were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ann is survived by her daughter Colleen Milkowski and her husband Michael of Vero Beach, FL, daughter Arlene Waltz and her husband Ted of Alturas, FL, granddaughter Tiffany Haag and her husband Chris of Bartow, FL, grandson Trevor Waltz and his wife Kassidee of Fort Meade, FL, great granddaughters Emmy-Lou Marie Haag and Kate-Lynn Adele Haag, and her canine companion Ellie May.
The family wishes to acknowledge with profound gratitude the loving care provided to Ann by VNA Hospice Care Services of Vero Beach and her caregivers, Frances Hodervil and Berthide Clercira.
Ann will be reunited with her loving husband Walter, at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL, on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ann’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org)
Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home and Crematory.
