Audrey Lawrence Saiter Saylor passed away on March 5, 2019, in Vero Beach, Florida. Her passions included love for her family and friends, the arts and design, travel, and entertaining.

She was born in 1921 in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1946, she married and moved to the Cleveland, Ohio, area where she raised a family and lived until 1990. She became a full-time resident of Vero Beach, Florida, in 1990 after the death of her second husband, Paul Saiter.

While living in Cleveland, Audrey demonstrated her design talents with the construction and interior decoration of her family’s first home, which was featured in a cover story in the national magazine, The American Home. Her second home was featured in the Sunday Cleveland Plain Dealer.

She divided her volunteer and philanthropic activities while living in Cleveland between art and community assistance. With art, she managed a gallery called the Ten Thirty Gallery where the careers of many nationally known artists were launched. Later, Audrey volunteered at the Vero Beach Museum of Art for many years.

She helped start a nurse’s aide program for a nursing home that cared for underprivileged individuals for the Cleveland chapter of the American Red Cross.

Audrey enjoyed traveling, visiting Europe, Central America and Asia. She favored Latin American and Spanish cultures and taught herself Spanish to better understand those ways of life.

Audrey especially loved competition and played competitive club tennis for many years in both Cleveland and Vero Beach. She played recreationally well into her 80’s. She also loved playing bridge, well into her 90’s.

Audrey is survived by Edward Saylor, Jr., her husband, during the last twenty years of her life. She is also survived by her son, Christopher Gray, of Denver, Colorado, and four stepchildren: Mark Saiter, of Dallas, Texas, Paul Saiter, Jr., of St. Louis, Missouri, Holly Saiter, of Cleveland, Ohio, and Edward Salylor III, of Mesa, Arizona. She also leaves behind four daughters-in-law, three granddaughters, four grandsons, twelve great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law.
