The family of Richard Walter Barrett (Pop) of Fort Pierce, Florida, are saddened to announce the passing of their father after achieving his 90th birthday.  He passed away quietly on February 15th, 2022, of natural causes.

Richard was born January 30th, 1932, in New Rochelle, New York.  After attending high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.  He was honorably discharged after his service to his beloved country.  He married Dorothy Jean Mulhere on June 11th, 1955.  They had met on a blind date and spent the rest of their lives together, until Dorothy’s passing on January 25th, 2007.  There is no doubt Dorothy was waiting at the pearly gates for him.  Richard was an extremely hard worker, but he was always there for his kids.  He worked over 30 years each with Schaefer Brewing Company in Elmsford, New York, Clarkstown School District in West Nyack, New York and at John’s Island in Indian River Shores, Florida.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Kathleen and her husband, Russell Nash of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, and his three sons and their wives, Kevin and Kelly Barrett of Lewiston, Maine, Ken and Kathy Barrett of Vero Beach, Florida, Kerry and Mary Ellen Barrett of Vero Beach, Florida.  He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Richard served his country, spent many years volunteering with the Boy Scouts, was a member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus and most of all is remembered for being the best role model for his family. Family and friends were the most important thing to him and all of us will cherish the memories we had being with him.  We know he is happy again re-uniting with Dorothy and his favorite dog, Bailey Blue.

Richard will be Forever Missed, Forever Loved.

A Prayer Service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, 1655 27th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.
