Betty F. Atkinson, age 85, passed away at Indian River Medical Center on March 17, 2016.
She was born March 17, 1931 in Crown Point, Indiana to the late James and Ruth Duncan.
Mrs. Atkinson moved to Vero Beach in 1960 coming from Lowell, Indiana.
She had worked as an administrative secretary at Vero Beach Elementary for 10 years prior to her retirement from Indian River Estates after many years as marketing secretary.
Mrs. Atkinson was a member of The Community Church of Vero Beach and had enjoyed volunteering her time for her church and the Vero Beach �Welcome Wagon.�
She attended many of her high school reunions in Lowell and enjoyed reconnecting with numerous friends.
Survivors include her son, Kim (Pam) Atkinson of Buchanan, Tennessee; her daughters, Jill (Bill) Brunner and Lori (Steve) Wert both of Vero Beach; brother, Bobby Duncan of Abilene, Texas; sister, Barbara Hilzley also of Buchanan; six grandchildren, Amber, Justin, Stacy, Alesha, Haylee and Griffin; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Atkinson was predeceased by her husband, Robert W. Atkinson in 2004 and brother, Bert Duncan.
Private services will be held.
