Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.
Brian Terence Carman, 81, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him.
Brian wasn’t flashy or loud (at least, not most of the time). He had a sharp mind, a steady presence, and a quiet, unwavering sense of purpose. He grew up in Key West and carried that Conch spirit with him wherever he went. He loved the ocean, fishing, books, and long, thoughtful conversations with the people he cared about.
He lived a life grounded in integrity, kindness, and service. He believed in doing the right thing—especially when no one was watching. He married the love of his life, Leigh, in 1987, and together they created a home filled with love, laughter, and loyalty.
One of the places Brian poured his energy into was the Rotary Club of Vero Beach Sunrise, where he served as past president and took great pride in projects that brought clean water, literacy, and opportunity to communities in need. Service wasn’t just something he did—it was part of who he was.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Leigh; daughters Natalie, Kimberly, Melissa, and Megan; grandchildren Jessica, Autumn, Kenna, Andrea, Camry, Carter, and Jordan; great-grandchildren Wylder, Cyrus, and Rowan; his nephew Brian; and his much-loved grand-dogs Hugo, Millie, Kimber, and Milo.
A Celebration of Life will be held 4:30 p.m., Friday, August 15, 2025, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1850 6th Avenue, Vero Beach, FL, with a reception immediately following at the Riverhouse, Inside MacWilliam Park, 305 Acacia Rd, Vero Beach, FL 32963.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rotary Club of Vero Beach Sunrise or to a cause that reflects his spirit of service.
Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.

For Coach…. Rest well Moon-Bird!
There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.

Brian was a thinker, a Key west Conch kind of guy and a friend of the world. It was a pleasure working in Rotary with him in the passed years. Peace to the family and may he rest in peace.

He was the cool uncle. He taught me to waterski and not be afraid to swim with big fish.

I only just met Brian in the past couple of years, through his work with the Vero BEach KIND Campaign. He was so instrumental in getting several proclamations on kindness passed, and I admired his determination and perseverance. Therefore, I am not surprised to read about his life of service to his family and the communities where he lived. Thank you, Brian, for all you did and for the person you were. Sending healing blessings to all of his loved ones.

Brian was the sweetest grump I ever knew, would cry at the drop of hat, loved Rotary and created the matching grant idea with the club. He loved International projects and started the clubs venture into the Dominican Republic…Even bought a village a school bus to take kids to school so they didn’t have to walk.
