Susanne and I extend our deepest sympathy to Hilda and the Latoni family. I knew Carlos as a good and honest man, an excellent engineer of high integrity and a friend. Carlos and I met about 1995 at a Flutter and Dynamics Council meeting in Williamsburg, Virginia. He was with Piper and I was a engineer with Lockheed Martin in Marietta, Ga. Carlos asked me if I was interested in doing some flutter consulting work with him in the general aviation field. At that point, we formed an association that lasted about 15 years until his full retirement from engineering. Our friendship lasted until his passing. After he quit the business, Carlos gave me all of his ground vibration test equipment, enabling me to continue my work. We would talk several times a year on the phone and I would visit whenever I was in Vero Beach consulting at Piper or in South Florida on vacation. He was always interested in the jobs I was working and I would often call him for opinions and advice. Over the years, we worked many jobs which involved traveling around the country doing aircraft ground vibration tests. Not once in those years did a cross word pass between us. I had the highest respect for Carlos Latoni as a business partner, a very competent engineer, and a friend. Rest in peace Carlos Latoni.
