Charlotte Cole Topliff, age 93, of Vero Beach, passed away from her earthly life Saturday, July 2nd, 2022, into her Heavenly life.
She celebrated her 93rd birthday on May 31st. Charlotte was born in Willimantic, Connecticut to parents, E. Bradford, and Bertha E. Hathaway Cole.
She married the love of her life, Philip H. Topliff and for 71 years they were married prior to his passing in 2021. Together they raised six of their own children and opened their home to countless foster children.
In addition to being a very busy mom, she was the owner of Charlotte’s Salon, Lebanon, CT, spending six years as a hairdresser. Upon moving to Vero Beach in 1979, Charlotte clerked for the Indian River County Health Dept. for five years prior to five years as a health aide for IRC’s Wabasso School. She would also respond when called upon by the school to substitute or volunteer for the next nine years.
A woman with a firm faith in God, Charlotte also found time to volunteer for The Community Church of Vero Beach.
She is survived by three sons, Mark C. Topliff of New London, CT, Steve H. Topliff of Lisbon, CT, and Harrison F. Topliff of Vero Beach; daughter, Ellen Giordano of Vero Beach; foster daughter, Debra Bartholomew of Rhode Island; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Topliff was predeceased by her son, Richard P. Topliff in 1981 and her sister, Florence Jones.
A Graveside Service will be held 11 a.m., August 20th, 2022, at New Lebanon Cemetery.
When asked of thoughts for contributions, Mrs. Topliff simply stated, “do something nice for your neighbor.”
