Marine LCP Chase Stephenson passed away on September 2, 2024. He honorably served his country for over 2 1/2 years, both at home and abroad, as a crew chief on Osprey aircraft. Chase absolutely loved flying alongside his USMC brothers.

Chase was born on March 3, 2003, in Vero Beach, FL. He graduated from Vero Beach High School in May 2021 and joined the United States Marine Corps the following December.

Chase was extraordinarily talented; before he could write, he demonstrated a gift with vocabulary and developed his craft over the years as a wordsmith. From a young age, he continually wrote poetry and even jotted down verses on his iPhone to capture remarkable moments. As much as he enjoyed writing poetry, he was an impressive musician and found peace when setting his words to music. Truly, Chase was a performer at heart and had a passion for acting in his high school plays, playing his many guitars, and entertaining his friends. Chase was a devoted friend and could be counted on to do just about anything he could for a friend in need.

Chase is preceded in death by his father, Chad Stephenson. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Tessa and Justin Cornell; his two brothers, Dylan Cornell and Wyatt Cornell; his grandparents, Teresa and Jimmy Jones, Bev and Rick Campbell, (all of Vero Beach, FL), and David Stephenson (of Union City, TN).

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 22, 2024, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at The Riverhouse, 305 Acacia Road, Vero Beach, FL 32963. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. with Military Honors beginning at 2:00 p.m., courtesy of The Marine Cops and the Sebastian Area Honor Guard. Those who knew and loved Chase are welcome to join us in celebrating his life.

In remembrance of Chase’s loving and giving spirit, the family asks that any charitable donations be made, in lieu of flowers, to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105).

Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.

We started our marine corps career together at paris island Golf Company. He was such a happy person in such a miserable place he made it better for all of us. We grew our friendship and brotherhood as the time went on and i will never forget him. I’m honored to have served along side him and go through such difficult times together. Never forgotten LCpl Stephenson. Stand duty from above. Forever apart of the Gun club
