David Hall Dennison, 89, of Vero Beach, FL passed away Sunday February 8, 2015.
David was born on December 19, 1925 in Bellevue, Iowa.
He graduated from Bellevue High School and went on to university for part of a year before being drafted into the Army. Survivor of Battle of the Bulge, David still carried shrapnel in his shoulder 70 years later.
David worked for the Automic Energy Commission at Ames, Iowa and later ran the physics lab at the University of Chicago.
Adventurous and independent, David traveled with family and with friends he met at the University of Chicago, swam with a group in Lake Michigan at Chicago, bought and flew his own plane for a time, until he grew tired of it, and enjoyed many, many rounds of golf. He retired to Vero Beach in 1988 in order to play golf more frequently.
David was preceded in death by his parents, John Rexford and Arelisle Neill Dennison; his 3 siblings, John Neill Dennison, Nancy Dennison Malmquist, and Daniel Chase Dennison; one niece, and one great niece.
He is survived by 5 nieces and nephews, Andrew Malmquist, Mary Malmquist, Anne Dennison Oakley, Jonathan Dennison, and Jeffrey Dennison; 9 great nieces and nephews, and 3 great great nieces and nephews.
As he often reminded us, he was a great great uncle.
Family would like to thank Moe, Gael, and Tracy for allowing David to maintain his independence to the end.
