David J. Miller of Vero Beach, FL and Mackinaw City, MI passed away on May 30, 2019.

He was born March 29, 1923 in Plainwell, MI. David had residences in Battle Creek, MI, Princeton, NJ, and Ft. Lauderdale, FL prior to moving to Vero Beach in 1984.

David served during WWII as a pilot in the US ARMY Air Corp with 38 missions in the ETO, Flying the B-26 Martin Marauder. A graduate of Western State Teachers College in Kalamazoo, MI he was awarded a Master of Arts Degree from the University of Michigan. David was an educator for several years before associating with TEXTBOOK PUBLISHING firm of Henry Holt and Co., later named Holt, Rhinehart and Winston Inc. He retired after 32 years with the firm.

In 1956, David served as an Ordained Elder at St Andrews Presbyterian Church, Princeton, NJ. Later he served on the Session of Second Presbyterian Church, Ft. Lauderdale and First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach. David had served on the committees of the Presbytery and Synod of the South Committees. He was an Associate member of the Church of the Straits, Mackinaw City.

He was a Life Member of both Michigan and Florida Masonic Lodges. In 1955, he served as Worshipful Master of the Masonic Lodge located in Plainwell, MI. David was a Life Member of Dewitt Clinton Scottish Rite Consistory and Saladin Shrine Temple, Grand Rapids, MI. A member of the Eastern Star, he was a charter member of the Vero Beach Masonic High Twelve Club #655. David was elected Director to the Board of the B-26 Marauder Historical Society, serving as Vice President and President from 2003-2006. He was a Life Member of the VFW and American Legion. David was also a member of the Phi Delta Kappa and an active member of the Vero Beach Exchange Club.

He is survived by three sons (Thomas, Gregg, and Lee), twin daughters (Edith Bennett and Estella Smith), 11 grandchildren ( David Sean Miller, John Miller, Jeffery Smith, Chad Bennett, Jason Smith, Lori Beverly Bennett, Thom Miller, Doug Bennett, Gregg Thomas Miller, Ross Miller, and Tess Mary Miller), and seven great-grandchildren (Riley Miller, Matthew Miller, Dylan Miller, Nicholas Bennett, Madelyn Mae Smith, Ethan Smith, Owen Smith and Elaina Miller).

David was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, his brother, Lee and grandson, John Ross Miller.
