David Robert Dangerfield, 48, of Vero Beach, Florida passed away on October 15, 2016.
David was born in Miami, Florida to Bruce and Loretta Dangerfield and was a lifelong resident of Vero Beach.
Mr. Dangerfield was Battalion Chief of the Indian River County Fire Rescue, served as a master dive trainer for Dive Rescue International, and as an instructor at both Indian River State College Fire Academy and Palm Beach Fire Rescue. He founded the annual Firefighters’ Chili and Salsa Cook-off, a charity fundraiser, and continued to organize for ten years, raising thousands of dollars for the children of Indian River County. He supported the Big Heart Brigade of Indian River County, providing Thanksgiving Meals to many in our community, and supported the Firefighter’s Fair each year. David was named Emergency Service Provider of the Year by the Treasure Coast Fire Chiefs’ Association in 2013.
David was a graduate of Indian River State College and received an Associates of Science in Fire Sciences.
Survivors include parents, Bruce and Loretta; sons, Christopher (19) and his mother, Diane Burns and Bryce (13) and his mother, Leslie Dangerfield.
A service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Community Church, 1901 23rd St, Vero Beach, FL 32960 with a reception to follow.
