Donald Elmer Hinz, age 95, of Vero Beach, passed away February 21st, 2026.
He was born in Sheboygan, WI and had moved from Grand Rapids, MI prior to Vero Beach in 1973.
Mr. Hinz most recently owned and operated Nason & Hinz Storage, previously he was a milkman and a lumber broker.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Vero Beach, serving in the choir, leading children’s choir, and serving in the youth ministry.
He had attended Calvin College and graduated from Central High School in 1948.
He is survived by daughters: Vicki Schommer (Alan), Laurie Gover (Jeff), and Donna Vocelle; brother, Howard Hinz (Sharon); grandchildren: Amy Gover Graber, Sara Gover, Amanda Schommer Evans, Daniel Vocelle and Cecile Vocelle Shidler; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Marianne Hinz; and grandson, Matthew Schommer.
At the request of the family, services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Matthew A. Schommer Scholarship Fund, 4125 Indian River Dr. East, Vero Beach, Florida 32960 or Rejoice Radio, P.O. Box 18000, Pensacola, Florida 32523 or First Baptist Church, General Fund, 2206 16th Ave., Vero Beach, FL 32960.
