Donald W. Fennell, age 81, passed away Friday, October 25, 2024, at Willowbrooke Court in Indian River Estates, Vero Beach, FL.

He was born in Charlottesville, VA and moved to Vero Beach, FL in 1970. Donald was a member of the United States Army, First Cavalry, and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War as a helicopter gunner on a troop carrier.

In correlation to his faithful service, Donald retired from Siemens Corporation as a Customer Engineer, an instrumental component of large and small communication projects and installations throughout the country.

He was a member of First Methodist Church of Vero Beach, FL and was a long-time member of Dogs for Life, where he spent many mornings with his dog, Bleau, enjoyed fresh air and exercise.

Donald was graduate of Indian River Community College and continued his studies at Colorado School of Mines for a year.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Fennell; sister-in-law, Carol Fennell; niece, Susan (Robert) Pratt; nephew, Todd (Kathy) Fennell Sr.; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Don loved his family dearly and took great pride in being GGU (Great-Great Uncle).

Donald was predeceased by his brother, Darrell Fennell and his parents, Dewey and Sadie Frances Fennell.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on November 12, 2024, at Indian River Estates, 2250 Indian Creek Blvd West, Vero Beach in the East Multipurpose Room.

In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged in Donald’s name to First Methodist Church of Vero Beach, 1750 20th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960 or Dogs for Life, 1230 16th Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.

Don was such a sweet man. He always had a smile for everyone. He was also a man of faith. His was a very strong but quiet faith, just like him He will be missed!!!
